Itinerary

Day 1Anchorage, AK

After a warm welcome meeting and hearty dinner, we’ll kick off our Anchorage adventure with a short evening tour designed to introduce you to the heart of Alaska in winter. We’ll stroll a scenic stretch of the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, where fresh snow blankets the landscape and the city lights twinkle behind us. Keep your eyes peeled—moose are often spotted along the trail, even in the colder months. As night deepens, we’ll pause in areas with open sky in hopes of witnessing the breathtaking Northern Lights dancing above—an unforgettable welcome to the Alaskan wilderness.

Day 2Healy, AK

Today, we embark on a scenic winter drive from Anchorage to Healy, a journey that winds through some of Alaska’s most stunning and snow-covered landscapes. Along the way, we’ll stop in Denali State Park to take in breathtaking views of the Alaska Range and, weather permitting, catch a glimpse of the towering peak of Denali itself. The park offers a peaceful winter wonderland, perfect for short walks and photo stops amidst the stillness of snow-draped forests. As we continue north, keep an eye out for wildlife along the roadside. By evening, we arrive in the small community of Healy, where we settle into cozy local accommodations and prepare for the adventures ahead near Denali National Park.

Day 3Denali National Park

Today, we venture from Healy into the serene winter landscape of Denali National Park, where snow-blanketed forests and towering peaks create a breathtaking backdrop. Our day begins at the Murie Science and Learning Center, the park’s winter visitor hub, offering insights into Denali’s unique ecology and the adaptations of its wildlife during the colder months.

From there, choose your preferred winter activity: embark on a guided snowshoeing trek through the tranquil boreal forest, opt for a winter hike along the Mountain Vista Trail—a gentle 0.6-mile path leading to panoramic views—or join a photography tour to capture the park’s pristine beauty. Upon arrival, we’ll make a delightful stop at the Santa Claus House in North Pole, Alaska—a festive landmark where it’s Christmas every day. Established in 1952, this charming shop offers a wide array of holiday-themed gifts, Alaska-made souvenirs, and the opportunity to send a letter from Santa with the official North Pole postmark . Outside, don’t miss the world’s largest Santa statue and a chance to see Santa’s reindeer. After soaking in the holiday spirit, we’ll continue to our accommodations in Fairbanks, where the evening may present another opportunity to witness the mesmerizing Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic sky.

Embark on an unforgettable winter journey from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle with a local tour operator. After our visit we will return to Fairbanks for a free afternoon. You might choose to explore local attractions such as the University of Alaska Museum of the North, offering insights into Alaskan culture and natural history, or the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center, providing information on regional heritage and activities. Alternatively, consider embarking on a winter adventure like snowshoeing or ice fishing in the surrounding areas. Day 7Glennallen, AK

Today we start our day with a scenic winter drive from Fairbanks to Glennallen, traversing the Richardson Highway. Upon arrival in Glennallen, we’ll stretch our legs with a winter hike along the Copper River. One option is the Boreal Forest Trail, a one-mile loop that meanders through spruce forests and offers glimpses of the river’s icy expanse. Alternatively, the Tolsona Mud Volcanoes Trail, located about 14 miles west of Glennallen, provides a unique two-mile round-trip hike through a winter landscape dotted with geothermal features. Highlights may include views of the Wrangell Mountains, the Matanuska Glacier, and Turnagain Arm, where the icy waters and dramatic cliffs create unforgettable photo opportunities.
