Dana Point is a romantic oceanside city in Southern California. Here we will kayak and hike to enjoy the natural beauty of the town and its surrounding area.
The first half of your tour will be kayaking through the beautiful Dana Point Harbor. From your kayak, you’ll hear from your guide about the local marine life and natural sights – it’s possible that you’ll even spot some favorite animals like water birds or sea lions.
Depending on the tide, we may be able to hike to an actual Pirate Cave! During the early 1800’s, pirates brought their stolen goods to hide in the cave. It was again used for nefarious reasons during Probation, when it was used for smuggling alcohol.
After our kayaking adventure, your guide will lead you on a short hike through the headlands of Dana Point to overlook the Pacific Ocean or walk on the beach.

Tom’s life quote: “I prefer mountain ranges over beaches, snow over sunshine, and know my way around a fire pit. There is nothing like the cold, brisk, clear air of winter!”
Reading and discussing histories and science, hiking, archery, sightseeing and being in a winter wonderland! I love Thai and Indian cuisine and finding the best beef jerky wherever I travel. I’ve lived in Japan and hiked the forgotten sections of the Great Wall of China, taken a train across Siberia and backpacked all over Eastern Europe. On this winter excursion I look forward to showing guests the beauty and serenity of the places we visit that are so different from visiting these places in a different season.
I’m always looking for my next adventure and can’t wait to help you find yours.
