Your next morning begins with a truly unique experience as you join a local wolf tracker expert to observe and learn about wolves in Yellowstone National Park. While there are only about 100 gray wolves within the park boundaries, they play a crucial role as a keystone species and apex predator in maintaining the ecosystem’s balance. Our expert Wolf tracker will guide us to areas where the wolf pack is likely to be found, possibly spotting tell-tale tracks along the way. After observing these majestic creatures from a safe distance – we’ll make sure to respect their space – we’ll return to the campground for a well-deserved breakfast.

Once we’ve refueled and are ready to continue, we’ll head to a nearby ranch for an activity that many visitors overlook in their Yellowstone itinerary. While a litter clean-up may not seem glamorous, it offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to preserving this vital park. Day 4Grand Teton National Park, WY

We’ll rise early for an exciting opportunity to spot wildlife on our drive south to Yellowstone Lake and Hayden Valley. Yellowstone Lake, the largest high-elevation lake in North America, is home to several key aquatic species. Here, you’ll learn about the fascinating history of both human and natural influences on this remarkable body of water. Just a short drive away, Hayden Valley, a sub-alpine area of Yellowstone National Park, is a prime location to potentially see American bison, a species historically significant to many Native American tribes. Once nearly driven to extinction, the bison populations have rebounded, and you’ll hear about ongoing efforts by the park and tribal organizations to manage these herds.

As we continue our journey south, keep your camera ready to capture the stunning views of the Grand Teton mountain range, our destination for the next day. After settling into our campsite and enjoying dinner, we’ll head out for an early evening drive to spot one of Yellowstone’s most majestic mammals: the moose. Your expert guide will provide insights into these towering animals, the tallest mammals in North America, and their cultural significance to tribes like the Shoshone and Nez Perce, who have long relied on this region for hunting. Finally, we’ll wind down and rest up for an exciting Day 5 of hiking and adventure.

While it comprises only about 14% of Yellowstone’s total acreage, Grand Teton National Park boasts an incredible number of high-altitude peaks, including eight towering over 12,000 feet! Nestled high in the crevices and between the rugged crags of the Teton Range, you’ll discover rushing streams and ancient glaciers. Over billions of years, major geological forces like glacial activity and earthquakes have shaped these jagged peaks into one of the most awe-inspiring mountain ranges in North America. In more recent times, humans have left their mark on this remote and breathtaking region.

Our guide will suggest great trails for you to enjoy on your own in Grand Teton National Park, our guide will bring you to the trailhead and return to camp to prepare your energizing meal after a your active day. 

The different trails provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature, and offers panoramic views of the dramatic Teton landscape, making it an adventure you’ll treasure forever. Today’s journey from the Grand Tetons to Rocky Mountain National Park promises to be an adventure to remember as we traverse the iconic Trail Ridge Road. This stunning scenic byway, renowned for its breathtaking views and winding paths, offers endless opportunities to capture incredible photos. Surrounded by majestic mountains, lush forests, and expansive alpine meadows, every turn reveals a new and awe-inspiring landscape that will leave you in awe.

To make the long drive even more enjoyable, we’ve planned a variety of activities to keep everyone engaged and entertained. From classic road games like “My Horses” to creative options like storytelling and trivia, there will be plenty of laughter and friendly competition along the way.

We’ll also dive into each other’s music playlists and podcasts, sharing favorite songs and episodes that reflect our diverse interests. Day 7Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

Today’s adventure begins with a magical sunrise as we enter Rocky Mountain National Park, with golden light illuminating the rugged peaks. Our first stop is the Bear Lake area, one of the most picturesque and beloved destinations in the park. The drive to Bear Lake is an experience in itself, featuring winding roads and breathtaking views of surrounding mountains and valleys.

Upon arrival, we’ll pause to soak in the serene beauty of Bear Lake. Its mirror-like surface reflects the towering peaks and lush forests, creating a scene straight out of a postcard. We’ll take a leisurely stroll around the lake, stopping often to capture photos and admire the scenery. The crisp morning air invigorates us, and the peaceful ambiance of the lake sets the tone for an unforgettable day.

From Bear Lake, we’ll embark on a hike to the Haiyaha Lakes via the Nymph Lake Trail, conveniently located nearby. The trail begins with a gentle ascent through a dense forest of pine and aspen trees, their leaves rustling softly in the breeze. Our first stop is Nymph Lake, a charming, lily-pad-covered body of water surrounded by lush vegetation. Its shimmering surface reflects shades of green and blue, creating an enchanting scene. We’ll pause to rest, take photos, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

As we continue, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging, but the rewards are well worth the effort. The forest opens up, revealing expansive vistas of the mountains and valleys below. Along the way, we’ll encounter Dream Lake, another gem of the trail. Its crystal-clear waters offer a glimpse of the rocky bottom and the fish swimming gracefully beneath the surface.

The highlight of our hike comes as we reach the Haiyaha Lakes, a breathtaking natural wonder. Known for their vibrant and ever-changing colors, the lakes shift from deep turquoise to bright emerald depending on the sunlight. Surrounded by massive boulders and dramatic cliffs, the setting feels otherworldly and magical.

After spending time at Haiyaha Lakes, we’ll make our way back to Bear Lake. The return journey offers new perspectives, as changing light reveals different aspects of the landscape. We’ll take our time, savoring the views and capturing more photos of this pristine wilderness.

Day 8Red Rocks Park & Denver, CO

We’ll begin our day immersed in the tranquil beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park, where the peaceful surroundings provide the perfect start. After soaking in the serenity of nature, we’ll transition back to civilization with a visit to the iconic Red Rocks Park.

Here, we’ll embark on a scenic hike along the Morrison Loop Trail, a picturesque 3-mile route showcasing the park’s unique red sandstone formations. As you navigate the trail, enjoy breathtaking vistas, vibrant wildflowers, and opportunities to spot local wildlife. Don’t forget your camera—this hike is a paradise for photography enthusiasts!

Following our invigorating hike, we’ll treat ourselves to a delicious lunch at a nearby eatery, featuring local flavors that highlight the best of the region’s cuisine. Once refueled, we’ll check into a comfortable hotel where you can relax, freshen up, and take advantage of the amenities to unwind after the day’s outdoor adventures.

On our final day, we’ll rise and shine early to enjoy a breakfast and so we can take some time to reflect on all the incredible things we saw and experienced throughout our trip. You can opt for another hotel night or take the included airport transfer to Denver International Airport for your flight home. For those sticking around town, Denver has plenty of things to do, from historical attractions, art, and museums to its excellent beer and food scene – Rocky Mountain oysters, anyone? Your tour guide, of course, will have plenty of recommendations if you choose to spend more time exploring the Mile High City.
